That's not completely true. Sinnoh is said to be directly north from Kanto/Johto, but Kanto's North isn't the same as IRL Japan's North. On a real map using Kanto's North Sinnoh would be East of Kanto.

We know for a fact that Galax and Kalos are extremely close based on swsh's npcs said to be able to swim in-between the 2 regions, so it's probably just like the real world but with slightly different proportions
