>>46081614It's because traditionally East Asians (not just Chinese people) count the rotations of the Moon and not the Earth, hence the name lunar new year, both are constructs around a random natural phenomenon and there's no "real new year". I could say I celebrate a new year on my birthday and it wouldn't be wrong, simply a different perspective on a social construct. T.
