Does anyone else get the feeling the English translators for this game were just taking the piss?
I'm not sure if these jokes were present in the Japanese version or not, but it reads to me like whoever did the localisation was poking fun at some of the more ludicrous dialogue segments.

From what I have seen (stopped playing after Sun and Moon), SM and BW2 are the most obnoxious games when it comes to cutscenes and roadblocks. They are absolutely everywhere. X and Y stop being obnoxious around second gym but the beginning is the same garbage.

Made me lose all will to play, desu. Getting to a new town and having the gut feeling that you won't be able to explore it at all before a movie plays out and shows you everything was so bad.

On my second playthrough (4 years later) I just approach the game without typical (for Pokemon) expectations. When you start comparing SM to point'n'clicks/narrative RPGs, you may find it more bearable. Either this or I just became more tolerant after 4 years.

Medals aren't cringe. The dialogue box before that was "Do you know what medals are?" and I said yes, to which the NPC replied this. Why ask if you're not going to take the answer into consideration
