>>46098204I was implying that apparently part of GF's partnership with Nintendo is to release those games on their console to help move some units. This post sums it up
>>46098193 but DESU I won't be surprised if they've been trying to find a loophole to get out of it. Releasing a few new Pokemon into GO over time would be way more profitable for them than a huge dump of new Pokemon in a new mainline game, and hey know it.
LGPE DID get GO players to buy a Switch to play it, if for no other reason they wanted to try the game and get a Meltan, or at least get it for their kid since GO players tend to be older. I know this sounds ridiculous, but you should see how much money a GO player is willing to throw around.
>>46098226I actually thought GO would die w/COVID, but it made nearly $2bn last year. Even though it's becoming more money-grabby, they've been working GO to feel more like an integrated necessity than a game, and to make the mainline feel like a side-dish instead of the entry point. I've never seen a mobile game with a pre-existing IP really try to do this. They normally die pretty fast.
The thing with GO is, combined with what
>>46098299 is saying, I've seen Niantic repeatedly turn the tables really quickly to regain favor from an angry base, creep back in the cash grab, and throw something to calm the base to soothe them long enough to spend more money. It's a cycle. And because mobile is easier to flip some switches around with, it cost them nothing to perpetuate it.
LGPE vs SWSH is a weak but noticeable marker of a much bigger issue within the franchise.
