i don't see why you think your point of view is the more reasonable one.
they are saying two of three is good but the concept should have stayed intact.
you are saying two of three are shit and it's good to have a fractured concept.
what would be more reasonable would be if you liked stage three but think the other two should be changed to reflect it.
it's not as if they were patching something already in the world. they pushed a turd of a fractured line out when they didn't have to.
