>>46091938>>46091740>>46091316>>46090778From what I understand, the 'bad guys' of pokemon's plot generally want to abuse pokemon(using their power for evil purposes and forcing the pokemon to obey through some combination of intimidation, abuse, etc.), and that the majority of the societies in pokemon are strongly opposed to this.
It's heavily implied in every game that the majority of 'common' pokemon actively want to be owned by humans in the same way that dogs really like us. Like imagine you're a growlithe. Yeah you're smart, powerful, and can breathe fire. But you don't have thumbs, and the only way to get stronger is by viciously fighting other wild animals for XP.
A human comes by, and has stronger pokemon than you. the human wants you to tag along since a fire-breathing dog is handy. You get free food, a chance to fight other pokemon without dying, and if you do get injured the humans have things like potions, medicine, and poke-centers, or even other pokemon that can heal you that wouldn't because you'd normally be trying to eat them, but because there's a human heals you instead.
