You can't legitamently capture Arceus, though. That event isn't actually obtainable outside of cheating, and Arceus has only ever been given out in event distributions ever since Gen V.

No, feels like something that should've maybe been alluded to or hinted at but I don't like that it's just another capturable monster.
But a god pokemon was inevitable with the gen 3 legends cranking up the power level, even if their powers were more in-line with what we expect from pokemon it still set us up for gen 4's explicit pantheon. Feels like you can trace a lot of the major issues in series today to gen 3, regardless of whether or not they were handled well back then.

I think its odd that a Pokeball can somehow completely weaken a Deity like that, I could buy that maybe the Deity just chooses not to use those powers because they don't feel mortals should have that type of power or ability to do what it can. So the Red Chain is basically forcing them and removing their freedom so they have no choice.

which leads me to believe that the more powerful legends such as acreus and the creation trio just see the pokeball as a form of formality, and only decide to let you catch them because they deem you worthy.

I mean technically apricorns came from Arceus (assuming its the true God of the world). So capturing Pokemon has been a thing pretty much forever in one way shape or form. There was a time where people did magic to place Pokemon in objects (assuming the anime's Pokémopolis thing is canon), so I honestly think Arceus in some measure indented this to happen.

It was in the Hoopa movie. Hoopa unbound is basically an evil demon so Arceus had to step in and whoop its ass in the past. When Hoopa was unleashed once again and went on a rampage, the synagogue of Arceus sealed it back up again.

I used to hack legendary pokemon on diamond all the time so I could use them on battle revolution. I want the Arceus on the remakes to be in game like the virtual console Celebi on crystal, the Deoxys on ORAS or like the Keldeo on sword/shield.
