As long as the games sell well Gamefreak will always play it safe with this franchise, Though I can see why they do this if it isn't broke do fix it obviously.
However I think a risk can be taken and if they give Pokemon the BOTW or Odyssey treatment then people would buy the hell out of it.
As long as the don't fuck it up... Again though could be a very long time if we even see it.
