Whats up with GF's insistence on reusing certain type combinations over and over. Like there are enough Water/Ground types you could practically make a "Mud-Type" for them. There are enough Bug/Flying and Bug/Poison to make a regional dex. Then vast swathes of others are restricted to Legendaries/Mythicals if they use them at all?

Cause some types just go together better, like it's really easy to make a bug flying type, or a pure water etc

To put it bluntly, types like Water/Ground Bug/Flying, and Grass/Poison fit well with real life nature which the vast, vast majority of Pokemon are based on in some fashion. You can make good Pokemon with type combos like Fire/Ice but they’re simply not going to be as easily organic and “real” feeling as the more sensical ones, thus requiring more thought and not being as well suited to filling out a region’s numbers.

this is also probably why a lot of unique type combos are introduced or only held by legendaries, since their designs generally allow for more suspension of belief
