Why would it be underrated? Its design is shitty and unnoticeable, and its useless in battle. We already a cool cactus mon with Cacturne, so this thing had literally no reason to exist.

Maractus was actually supposed to be a female only Cacnea evolution, but when they decided include only gen 5 mons in the dex they screwed that. Same happened with Alomomola and Luvdisc

Cacturne is also a shitty lame design. Just compare the difference with pic related (some of the best grass pokemon designs). Just make it a green humanoid and call it "scarecrow" lol. It's overrrated and ruined Cacnea, which was a perfect cactus design.

I love this cute little lady, I swept plenty of trainers with her in White 2. Nice movepool and Sp. Attack stat with decent speed makes it a pretty solid grass type pick in gen 5.

Yeah, unlike those in your pic, Cacturne isn't trying to look goofy and has a unique typing. That's more than something as shitty as Maractus ever did.

It feels like Cacnea is a little bland. I love the round tanky design of it since it's hardy to harsh desert climates. But they say Cacturne literally stalk people to beat the shit out of them. And Maractus have a thing for dancing and sound like maracas. Nothing wrong with people a cactus that was literally too stubborn to die but I wish some flavortext would give you a bit more sometimes.
