Supergenius is a trait, not an identity
"Lives for developing muscles" is a much simpler, and therefore more acceptable, species-wide identity than "spy."
All Hypnos are rapists. That is all.
Mad as fuck is a trait, not an identity.
Dopey and absentminded are traits, and do not a defined identity create.
All animals eat and sleep, Snorlax just love it more. This tells us nothing about the rest of its personality, leaving it open to interpretation. Unlike "They're all suave, chivalrous spies who do spy things," or "They're all vicious dirty fighters who crave attention and praise but secretly adore children."
Allow me to explain what I mean in the simplest way I can think of at the moment. All cats are assholes (obviously not all, but most, even if they're adorable about it) Not all cats put on a suit and tie and work as professional waltzers, but they won't dance on a red floor. "Mean" or "petty" or "smart" is a simple enough trait that it can be shared across a species. A defined list of particular personality elements, alongside a very human occupation that comes with its own list of stereotypes, all of which are also supposedly true for every member of the species, is far too complex to be believable as an animal. At that point, it's a character, not a creature.
