No. These are some of the best experiences the series has to offer. Doubles/Set as the standard format makes the game so much more interesting and being limited to the shadow pokemon you find through the game makes the ones you do find feel really special and forces the player to get more creative when building their team. It can really turn a battle on its head when you think you're just gonna plow through some dumb cipher peon only to find they have a shadow pokemon and you need to juggle catching the thing and stomping out the rest of the opponent's team. Top that off with properly scaled Pokemon in battle with excellent animation and backgrounds that actually reflect the location you're in and you have an excellent game on your hands.
