Granted the thing that is fucked up with gen 1 is that Fire was only good vs bug, grass, and ice. And was only good at attacking ice not resisting it (and there were literally zero pure ice pokemon, there was 1 ice/psychic, 1 ice/flying, and 3 water/ice). And Bug/Grass were weak to flying anyway, so you might as well just use a flying type or a normal pokemon with fireblast
