>>46147547>is completely uselessI don't really know how good Mega Garchomp is competitively, so I won't argue that. I will, however, say that whatever its viability may be, it plays differently to regular Garchomp, which is my point, and your aggressive coping doesn't change that.
>doesn't change anythingIgnoring the switch from Special Attacker to Physical Attacker doesn't make it go away. Nor does it change that Mega Lucario's Adaptability plays very differently form Inner Focus, Justified, and Steadfast. Different roles, coper, different roles.
>Dynamax objectively requires more thought>preexisting secondary effects are lostSo removing strategy requires more thought?
>you can choose any Pokemon on your team to DynamaxYeah, and then it's just a matter of what moves you have. Two water types are effectively the same once they're Dynamaxed, they lose everything that makes them special in exchange for, as you put it, an unga bunga button for three turns. Megas either make trash 'mons more viable, or offer already good 'mons alternate options, and all they exchange for it is an item slot. Choosing to use a Mega needs to be a careful decision because you're swapping a potential build out for another, meanwhile, Dynamax is just a matter of when to push the panic button. Also, Dynamax doesn't offer anything new, it's just a power up that exists to...well to do what? The answer: to be flashy. That's all. It serves no other purpose. Even the grand spectacle it's supposed to provide isn't there, because giant Pokemon don't have room to move, and are slow anyway, and the wanton destruction they should cause is massively toned down because it would obviously be too much. The concept is neutered from the get-go. The G-Max forms don't do anything either. You'd think they'd be stronger, but no, they just get one different move with an effect that is 9 times out of 10 worse than the base Max Move. Dynamax offers nothing of value, and that's why it's inferior.
