Think about it. Yes, visually they are 3D, but they are designed as if they never left the Game Boy. NPCs can't even turn around properly

So they have made a 3D game? Because last I checked this is literally the only requirement to be a 3D game. It’s a presentation style, not a genre.

I believe it is why the new games feel so wrong. On the surface you think "wow look at that big city" but then you play it and realize there's no people or nooks and crannies. That's because it is those same grid based minitures from 20 years ago just with a "realistic" coat of paint.
They're filling in the blanks for you and creating an artificial sense of scale

I guess technically, but it feels like they've yet to truly take advantage of 3D from a design and presentation standpoint. SWSH doesn't do anything that can't he replicated on GBA
