Pokemon is pretty on par with most of the games on the traditional carts. Simplistic in it's art direction, but still pretty typical of what you'd see. The game's you're listing, like Blue Sphere, are the rare top percentile that looked better not the system's norm. Also most of those games were on a much smaller scale than Pokemon games. Like yes Resident Evil Gaiden is a nice looking game but it has no where near as many assets as Pokemon did.

The first two gens were very impressive gameboy games. You're fucking delusional if you don't realize that. Gen 2 had an in-game clock system that ran in real time, and Crystal had fucking online connectivity at a time where NOTHING had it.
