Most animefags on this board are turbo Ashfags that want to self insert and in that respect XY had everything they could have asked for. A strong fully evolved team, a special form only Ash got, and a waifu lusting after him. Those things make them treat a decently average kid's anime as if it's a masterpiece. Animation was pretty at least.
