They took the engine from ORAS, developed it just enough to add the GO-shit and left it at that, launched the game.
The new engine took out mega evolution, added Gmax gimmick in its place. Now, this *new* remake is going to be proper core, no GO-based catching, etc so it's going to take Gen VIII's enigine, like ll the other proper remakes have similarly done and they've already proved they don't bother working on a remake engine longer than what they want out of it. Why do you think they'll waste Nintendo's money and their own devhours adding something the games have moved on from this Gen, if they didn't even bother adding Z-Moves to the GO-clone? Far easier for them to just build Sinnoh in Gen VIII's engine, that faff about updating an almost decade-old engine to put Sinnoh in or buggering around in the code to put meegas back in, when the rest of the fanbase isn't that arsed they got removed.
