No, they would have been better if they weren't a straight downgrade from Gen 6.
The series would have been better off if they never made regional gimmicks like Z-Moves or Dynamax and just focused on actually making meaningful additions to the game like Super Training, Amie + minigames, the PSS, and cohesive worldbuilding.

You mean in order to supplement the seasons changing with the narrative and give a reason for actually removing the mechanic?
How about you go do your homework, the seasons changing in Kalos does make sense, what doesn't is Alola being bland and samey in every area despite not bringing seasons back.

No, that's the game working as intended because they just slapped on the same battle and menu engine from Gen 6 but capped it at 30fps when XYORAS had them at 60 frames constantly.
It's not that it's real input lag, it's just that it's running at half the speed it should be.

It's a tropical region which has only two distinct seasons of dry and wet.

Even tropical climates experience seasons to some degree. The point is that Kalos actually had an excuse for removing them that was intended to work to the player's benefit. Alola doubled down on that without keeping any justifiable reason.
