>>46176830For generations:
>Gen 1Red, Blue and Yellow for the worldwide hits. Japanese people had Green and Red, with their third version being Blue. Some slight changes between, nothing too big, enjoy glitching and breaking your game, it's not a bug, but a feature at this point.
>Gen 2Gold and Silver, plus Crystal. A couple years ago there was a big leak (Spaceworld 97 demo), which was the original game before getting retooled into a different thing. It was supposed to end the series, there are plenty of fangames, and a rebuilt version for Space 97. Retro fun and a charming region.
>Gen 3Ruby and Sapphire, plus Emerald. The later adds a postgame theme park with one of the hardest challenges in the franchise. Not many trainers get all the golden medals, maybe you can scrap a silver one?
This gen connects to some other entries, like Pokemon Channel and Colosseum. What goes with what is a bit tricky, but you get special event pokemon if you put some effort.
>Gen 4You'll hear about attacks being either physical or special, which makes some pokemon use their strengths in a better way. Diamond and Pearl get outshined by Platinum, they all offer a cozy world.
You can connect to fan servers, so online is not dead... Yet. Enjoy mining, it's best played on a real DS for the double screen features.
Heart Gold and Soul Silver are amazing remakes, even the developers were doing a double take on everything they included. They come with a special pedometer, like a Tamagotchi. Not necessary, but they're expensive to get nowadays, with lots of fake cartridges. Just emulate or pick a R4 card.
