Awkward evolutions, as long as they aren't overly obscure, add personality and uniqueness to a pokemon honestly. Its a secret and interesting thing to discover.
I just think ones like inkay->malamar and g farfetchd->sirfetched could use streamlining (and maybe shelmet, karabalast->accelgor, escavalier but I feel mixed about it), but that's it.

The issue would be more easily solved by just allowing female Kirlia to evolve into Gallade. I don't know why they decided to have gender + evolution stone evos for Kirlia and Snorunt. Seems pointless. Just the stone would've been necessary.

Just look at Honchkrow and Mismagius in the same gen. Both arguably gendered designs and both got new stone evos but female Murkrow can become Honchkrow and male Misdreavus can become Mismagius.

Why did Froslass and Gallade get the specified genders when they're just as gendered as Mismagius and Honchkrow?

They've already sort of tried retconning Gardevoir to female only. Since Gallade's been introduced every trainer that's used a Gardevoir has had a female one, with the exception of a couple of nobody route trainers. They even retconned Wally's male Garde into a Gallade.
