I liked LGPE because it was a return to form with the traditional gameplay. Was it underwhelming? Absolutely, but it's still a modern Pokemon game I can say I liked because it actually gave the player freedom.
Meanwhile, SM, USUM, and SWSH don't have any of that going for them. I don't even want to blanket say CHANGE = BAD either because Pokemon desperately needs a change for something fresh and new, but it feels like Alola and Galar go in the opposite direction that Gens 1-6 were going for.
