I hate this trend of infantilizing Pokemon. No, it is not a kids franchise, it's a general audience one. Ash Ketchum is the everyman who aspires for greatness. We cheer for him because we see a little of ourselves in him. They've stripped him of these traits, resulting in a cereal mascot who doesn't grow, learn, or teach.
