You realise this is what they intend? That OG Magearna actually proves this point, seeing as they want you to use Home and that a fair chunk of them just arent available to kids who can't get out play GO regularly (not to mention the ones who don't own any past games in the series to transfer them up). It's a kid's series, always going to pitch at kids and I can't see them completely abandoning something they went to the arse of designing, creating and trademarking as being a part of their universe's biosphere.
But again, dexxit never bothered me, not autistic enough to some shitmon didn't make the cut and I know after the backlash they'd received after Gen III jump, they're not utterly removing 'mons again (even though the Gen II-III jump was shitty, they at least allowed you to catch Johto shit, even if the practices were jewy-wait...).
