Murkrow vs Misdreavus was the only relevant difference to my playthrough. I like them both but think Mismagius plays nicely whereas Honchkrow is underwhelming.

Not only that, they got rid of both Stunky and Glameow as well. It's kind of dumb they removed all 4 of these lines. Normall they take one and leave the other, like how Crystal took Meowth and Growlithe and left Vulpix and Mankey unavailable. Could have had like Glameow and Murkrow or Stunky and Misdreavus, but no.

At the top end the quality is still the same, both diamond and pearl have some great picks. However, diamond has much better quality on average. I think gamefreak's reasoning for shafting pearl might have been mostly thinking around trades.
Both copies have mons worth trading for and that you can get a good deal trading with, but beyond that they clearly favored diamond over pearl.
