I think it was in the headcannon thread earlier today, but someone mentioned that they believe most of the pokemon in bwbw2 were meant to be regional evolutions, but the idea was scrapped, it would explain why so many things go straight from baby to final form.

I have that same headcannon. Stuff like Alomomola probably was going to be an evolution for Luvdisc. But when they decided the pokedex would only be Gen 5 pokemon, they have to make it a standalone.
