Because this is an oddity, everything has to change. Companies have to lay off perfectly hard working straight men to hire gay men so their company doesn't look anti-gay and isn't slandered. They have to pull people from their work to attend seminars to show them how to behave differently in order not to offend these gays. They have to re-write laws and rules so that all the gays are accommodated properly. They have to adjust every form of advertising, public display, museum, book, piece of history, anything that might offend or hurt some gay's feelings.
