I just found out the joke behind Sneed's Feed and Seed! When I first saw the scene, I thought it was funny, but on the par for the early Simpsons. It was only after analyzing the footage that I saw the subtext "Formerly Chuck's"! I thought to myself, "How strange! Why would Chuck own this store?" And then it hit me. I rearranged the order of consonants from "Sneed's Feed and Seed" to accommodate its former owner, Chuck, and I got Chuck's Feed and Seed. I guess the joke is that Chuck changed his name so that his customers could more easily remember his store name. I don't really get it still...

I guess I always saw Hitmonlee as the defensive one because he looks more like a punching bag. His round shape looks more durable than Chan's weak little body. Also, Hitmonchan uses his fists, which is much closer combat than Lee's long legs.

The gen 4 starters are all both super strong and super weak against each other no matter who you pick you can kill the other starters. The weakness triangle goes in every direction.

Torterra gets ground type and Earthquake. Kills infernapes fire and empoleons steel.

Empoleon gets steel. Now grass weakness is neutralized. Has ice beam to kill torterra. Has water to kill infernape.

Infernape gets fighting type. Its has stab fighting to kill empoleons steel and fire moves to kill torterra

For the longest time I used to think that items like lemonade, moomoo milk, lava cookie etc. basically all "real food" healing items raised the Pokemon's friebdship. I think I read it on some random pokemon fansite years ago and never thought it was wrong.

I learned a couple misconceptions about friendship, like how leaving status effects untreated or placing mons in the PC doesn't affect it, but them fainting to an opponent 10 or 20 levels above them deducts a lot of points.
I also thought the Power Weight, Anklet, etc. were just worthless stat-specific Macho Braces for a long time. Turns out they give a flat +4 EVs to their stat when you gain any EVs. Pretty useful.

Super repels are actually a better value in cost/steps of repellent than max repels. Also as soon as you can access the vending machine drinks its a way better value to buy them.
A regular potion costs 300 and only heals 20 hp. A freshwater is 200 and heals 50 hp. A lemonade is half the price of a super potion, yet heals 80 hp instead of only 50. Its slightly inconvenient to only be able to buy one at a time, but if you need money for pokeballs or vitamnins or tms its definitely worth it.

Swords Dance and Dragon Dance are generally better physical boosts. Nasty Plot and Quiver Dance aren't as common so many special mons are stuck with Calm Mind.
Plus not caring as much about burns and many Calm Mind users having recovery moves meant you could go bulky sweeper instead of fast sweeper.

I didn't know what most of the weird non-volatile status moves did until several years after I stopped playing the core releases.

Stats probably got flipped during the Special split, and never fixed because Johto was held together with duct tape.
Lee and Chan were really meant to be defensive in Gen 1 for players that got walled at the Psychic gym so their Special is jacked up but they get no Special attacking moves. They could have been solid Gen 2 coverage mons if their SpDef and SpAtk were flipped.
