Dragon gym in BW. It's not crazy difficult, but Pokemon puzzles aren't supposed to be; but it looks and feels really cool.

If you're only looking at it in terms of difficulty, Regis puzzle in Gen 3 unspoilered.

This. It was a nice change of pace from normal gym battle to have the trainers congratulate you instead if challenging you. Although you had already whooped their asses so there wasn't really a point to them doing it again.

my favorite is seafom islands in gen 1. I'm a sucker for pokemon puzzles where you have to drop boulders onto the floor below. it's also neat because it stops the fast current, making it feel like youre changing the landscape of the actual environment to be able to explore.

This. Genwun had the best and most challenging puzzles. Seafoam islands, silph co. And victory road are legitimately challenging without a guide. They need more dungeons like that. After gen 4 they just kid of abandoned the concept.

Most puzzles in hgss seem a bit hazardous. In falkners gym i could see trainers scared of heights being gatekept from starting their gym run. Bugsy and morty both have bottomless pits in their gyms so thats easily a hazard for any trainer. Theres lava in one of the gyms and the ice gym is liable to cause someone to slide into a wall at the wrong angle and sprain their wrist or something

Nothing will ever top the regi puzzle. It felt mysterious if you didn't have a strategy guide or used the internet back then. I kept diving back to the cave and looking at the braille racking trying to think what they meant. Pokemon went overboard with treating their consumers like retards, though they're right for the most part.

I don't know why in particular but I really liked all the strength puzzles in XY. There's nothing particularly thrilling about them but I think it was the atmosphere of the routes combined with the sheer number of puzzles that were in Kalos.
BW2 comes really close with it's Victory Road.
