Eternatus is based on the Seven-Headed Dragon of Revelations, who brought down one-third of the stars in the sky and heralded the Nephilim (giants). One third of Stars = Wishing Stars, Nephilim = DMax Pokemon. That's Biblical lore, gen 4 is the most Biblical gen.
Instead of primals or megas, the Creation Trio are going to get GMax forms. The story is going to focus on either Palkia or Dialga, depending on your version; you won't go to the Distortion World or anything, not in the main game. But, there will be a postgame "Alpha Episode" about Arceus, and it will end with the use of Archeamax Arceus to enter the Distortion World, and subdue and capture Gigantamax Giratina.
