An in-game utility for finding Egg moves would make it a lot more useful to breed second-stagers for their primary stage with good moves they can't learn naturally, and reduce TM overreliance.
For example, imagine you can't catch Ghastly, but you can catch Haunter and Misdreavus. Haunter can't learn Perish Song and Misdreavus can't learn Mean Look. Makes sense to cross-breed them for Egg Moves, and Ghastly gets to be a baby mon instead of players feeling compelled to catch and grind it all the way up to Haunter for Pokedex completion's sake.
