For the siphoning part I'm a bit iffy, it doesn't seem safe in terms of... you know, after life stuff, I was thinking something in the lines of Pumpkaboo or Phantump, which to my knowledge can sustain on water, right? The first can be the size I want, and it would be inactive during the day so it wouldn't feel alone when I'm at work. Pokemon are not welcomed in the office sadly. Phantump though seems more cuddly.
Another option could be Mimikyu but you know what they say about its true form, it scares me a little, especially when people come with kids
