Arora Reviews: Pokemon Sword Shield

No.46262772 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Some love this game. Some sold it for 10 bucks 2 weeks after purchase. It's time I made an unbiased review of this game. To keep it short, I'll just greentext my main points.

Pros:
>Best looking Pokemon game to date, finally looks like a Pokemon game should.
>Gym battles are finally exciting. I literally got chills when Kabu dynamaxed his Centiscorch.
>Has a fairly casual feel to it, easy to get into.
>Good music, as usual.
>Even if you didn't care for the story that much, you will shed tears when the game ends.
>Much needed upgrades, like not having to press B to run, being able to access boxes on the go
>It's pretty cool that you can see Pokemon walk about in the wild.

Cons:
>Game is easy to beat: I didn't lose a match once.
>Some parts of the game feel unfinished: there are no animations for when you ride the flying taxi or the monorail in Wyndon. Rose of Rondelands hotel has no accessible rooms. The ferris wheel is just a cocktease etc.
>Almost all post-game content costs money.
>You can't use wonder trade or any online features without a paid membership.
>I feel like getting shinies is harder than it was in previous games, unless you visit raid dens, which requires friends.
>You can't do raid dens alone because of Martin's Solrock.
>You can no longer pet your Pokemon, but you camp with them instead.
>Pokemon roster feels lacking. I have like 3 box legendaries on my team, which I never do, and that says a lot.
