See, that's the problem with you kids. You're acting as if Z-Moves/Dynamax are comparable or mutually exclusive to Megas when they're not. Megas are just the regular stage beyond evolution that functions different. Z-Moves and Dynamax are explicitly relegated to one region for no other reason than to give Alola and Galar some semblance of identity because they're so much more unmemorable and bland compared to Gens 1-6.
You're welcome to dislike ME, but it doesn't make your case for the regional gimmicks any better because both of them are shit. Even if we entertained the thought that Megas are comparable to the regional gimmicks, Megas still come out on top because they're more nuanced and prone to being buffed and nerfed in ways that Z-Moves and Dynamax aren't.
Gen 6 has the unfortunate displeasure of being paired with Gen 7 and 8 just because it's the first fully 3D gen. In actuality it plays no different than any of the older Gens whereas Gens 7 and 8 actually did make big shifts in the formula that could be attributed to the current stagnation.
