The tiny sprites that were more ambiguous before RSE.

I liked the fact that Fly used whatever sprite the Pokémon using it had.

A few of the gen 1 pokemons' back sprites were based off their Red/ Green / Beta designs still

I remember charmeleon having a very weird back sprite in gen 1, I think i found it confusing as a child.

I googled it, and it seems really weird.

Zangoose had purple claws in RSE which was meant to represent its rivarly with Seviper since they both have scars in color of each others main „weapon”. In gen 4 onwards they decided to ruin this by making its claws black for no real reason.

What's interesting about that is Zangoose has always had black claws in its official artworks, even during Gen 3.

I think this was only in Gen 2, but I agree it was a nice touch. Would have liked to see it in HGSS as they had all the walking sprites already.
