Why does everyone expect some big Pokémon news? Wouldn’t it be too early for remakes on D/P?

Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire was 1 year after X&Y, HeartGold and SoulSilver was one year after Platinum. the DLC was the 'third' game' of this gen.

Typically remakes are announced later in the year, but since it's a major anniversary year they might announce them in February like they do the mainline games. They could also go ahead and rip off the bandage this week since a ton of people are already aware of the 403 related to Diamond/Pearl on the Pokemon site.

None of those were in a milestone year for the franchise though. I'll be honest, I think this has shafted past patterns, with all that's going on n top, I think they may just announce them and say they'll have more to show later in the year, than ignoring them entirely for the celebrations, then turning around in May and saying "Oh hey, we found this behind the sofa!".

Pokemon usually makes big announcements on February, and that fact is guaranteed since it's the week of the 25th anniversary. A new main series game getting announced this week is about 97% imo.
