Gens 1-4: Regions of Japan
Gens 4-8: US/UK (Two most relevant English speaking countries)
Gens 9-12: ???

I’m hoping pacific islands, other Asian countries, or just continuing the current theme but doing it better.

I really want a Texas region or Australia (with one big New Zealand DLC a year after release), but I’d rather they kept those concepts until they have fully open world (or open world segments like Xenoblade 1)

US is a country, Europe is a continent.
Hawaii does not exist on a continent and instead is a US state that exists in the Pacific ocean.

It would be more appropriate to say that Gen 7 was a Pacific region based game, whilst Gen 5 was an American region.
Elsewhere in the Americas there are places like Mexico with its Mesoamerican history that could be a fun setting for a Pokémon game.

Calling Hawaii a US region is like calling Falkland Island a British region. Yeah, it's technically one of the 50 states, but it has very little to do with the rest of the country otherwise. Hell, it was its own country until pretty recently.

Can we stop counting Hawaii as US? Just because it’s politically part of the US really doesn’t mean anything. Hawaii is literally thousands of miles into the Pacific Ocean with a unique people and culture. It’s just not the US.

China is so fucking huge, they might just focus on one part of it like they do all the Japan-influenced regions. But I would a return to a game influenced by East Asian culture.

If not, then a region like Brazil would be really cool. They have the largest Japanese diaspora. Also vast forests would make for a cool “Wild Area”-like expansion.

They did Japan for the first 4, then alternated US and Europe the next 4, so I'd say they'll probably make something else for the next 4. My personal ideas: Australia, China, South Africa and Brazil, so we cover every continent that didn't get a region yet. India is also probably gonna happen eventually. Either way, I doubt it's gonna be another US region next gen.
