Well technically yeah. Social media has kind created a culture of overhype. That's not to shill Gamefreak for making shitty games, but way too many retards expect announcements for a direct we don't even have confirmation of yet.

The new Nintendo Direct had this problem where so many people hyped up the idea of it that it didn't really matter what was announced because it was never going to live up to hype.

And I also wouldn't say fans haven't been conditioned into this state either, but in Pokemon's case (and a few others like Smash, and Sonic) where rumor/leak culture has gotten really out of hand. People arguing over which potentially fake text leak or youtube video leak with no evidence is real is kind of fucking retarded but it's a huge problem. Especially off /vp/. That's kind of a different problem then the game's overall lack of quality to me.
