Why would you be mad about the catching mechanic from Let's Go becoming implemented in the main games? This adds some actual skill and agency to the act of catching Pokémon as opposed to just hoping you pass some RNG checks. You're not stupid enough to think that wild battles are being removed, right?

We can argue about how RPGs mostly shouldn't include anything too intense as far as reaction-based gameplay (the argument is strong for VNs), but I'd also say that the Mario RPGs somewhat go against that idea. Let me choose to fight a Pokemon before catching it, and I'd probably get over it.

As someone who actually enjoys PoGo.... no. It works fine as a quick, simple method in a mobile game format but compared to the actual games it is far more heavily reliant on RNG.

In the main games, you can...
> use your team to lower the wild pokemon's hp just enough to increase your catch rate
> inflict a status condition
> choose from multiple different types of pokeballs that fit the situation at hand
> rest easily knowing that unless it comes with a move to do so, the wild pokemon will never run away from you

In Pogo...
> you can use a berry to very slightly increase the catch chance
> choose between 3 different tiers of ball (unless you are in a raid in which case fuck you :>)
> land the ball in the little circle
> pray the electric rat doesn't run away

Of course you will be able to. It's going to work kind of like raid battles in SwSh, where you beat the Pokemon first in a battle, and then you get the option to try catching it afterwards, which will lead into a Go catching section if you accept.

No, though it needs to be refined a bit.

On a conceptual level I genuinely like this idea, it gives the player more agency, which is a good start at revamping the catching mechanic, which is the series' most antiquated and boring mechanic by far.

I've been playing Let's Go and the catching is really bad, Joycon drift sure as hell doesn't help either.

And on top of that, there's still RNG checks., Let's Go Pokemon catching is Pokemon catching with unnecessary stress.
They should give the choice of the traditional battling and catching the wild Pokemon, going with the Go catching or even build on the combination of both like how Let's Go even did that with its stationary encounters (Snorlax, the Birds, Mewtwo)

Are you being retarded on purpose? RNG is RNG, I had an Eevee shrug off 3 excellents with ultra balls, on a chain of 15, the last one golden razzed and the wee fuck STILL ran on me, and that was with padding my chain with 6-7 ut of GO park for easee of hunting.
Get knotted, thing's based off a fucking mobile walking simultor and the rng in that's fucky on purpose.

Maybe if a single fucking switch game remembered that the pro controller has motion as well and allowed you to use that for motion controls it’d be a passable game. Absolutely. I would never play a main series pokemon game ever again if that happened, that is assuming the battles themselves are cut, but if battles AND the catching mechanic exist simultaneously, then perhaps I could tolerate it.
