>>46305924Alright, the new Bowser’s Fury is a perfect example of ‘Open World’. Once you start your experience and beat Bowser for the first time, many different islands to get the ‘collectible item of the game’, show up. You could collect them in any order, even if you have to linearly get 3/5 of them in a certain progressive order, 2/5 you could get off the bat if you know how, making it mostly an open world game with some linear limitations.
Pokémon is an RPG where you go point a, point b, point c, and you still end up at the end. You might be able to circumnavigate point b if you try hard enough, but you still have to beat point b at some point.
Super Mario Bros 3 is probably a better ‘open world’ game, as another comparison, considering you can find ‘secret pipes’ that allow you to skip levels with no consequences. That is more open world and it’s a 2d game.
