Less so than SM and SWSH.
Remember, if the DP remakes are Let's Go style and you don't buy them then you're sending the message you WANT more linearity like SWSH.

this doesn’t excuse a poor level progression, no wild battles, faulty catch mechanics and a return to grid based world designs (this world specifically being pulled almost one to one from a GBA game) after an entire gen of being free from it.
Just play FRLG Megas and Phys/Spec aren’t worth it.

It has MORE options than original Kanto. They didn't just retain the original openness, they expanded it.
LGPE are the least linear games, even more linear than base RBY.
