I'm not against the anime going against the games if they can write decent battles, like Ash having Charizard scorch the ground to turn Blastoise's water into steam to obscure its vision.

But Thunder Armor is an asspull. Not only does it not make sense in the game, it doesn't make sense in anything. You do not gain electric armor by being struck by lightning, that should not net you any sort of victory, especially since it's never used again. It wasn't a strategy.

Because Pikachu and Swellow were already low in health as they both got the shit beaten out of them by Sun/Moon. Yet Ash thinks it is a great idea to lower their health even further for a kino strategy that was bad. For Pika it can make sense since the anime has shown pokemon and moves being powered up if hit or absorbed by the same type but Thunder Armor was stupid. It was even said Swellow learned to absorbed electricity but it was never used that again. While Swellow is one of Ash's best birds considering it has a high win rate and low lost rate, thunder armor on swellow was stupid.

Makes a good point with Charizard Scorching the ground and even Infernape using Dig and Flare Blitz to remove the toxic spike hazard to avoid Pika from being poisoned as well but Thunder Armor makes no sense.

Tate:Solrock use Solarbeam on Swellow (grass move)
