Removed HMs so you no longer needed to beat any of the gym leaders to get around.
You needed to beat Koga in order to get to Blaine in Genwun and FRLG.

Less linear yes but not on purpose. I doubt GF made the executive decision to allow players to skip through the game like that. Even so we all know their only thought in making LGPE was "kAnTO aGAiN." Like the game is literally made as a target to young, less intelligent, children who have never played before.

Aren't the gym's pokemons still scalled in order though? I mean I guess you can directly battle the 7th gym but what's the point when your Pokemon are 30 levels lower? Not defending SS but Let's go isn't much better and I don't see why it's getting shilled so much lately.

You mean the same ones that are playing open games like Fortnite, Minecraft, and Roblox?

It's telling when a game made for literal toddlers gives players more freedom while the one for "long-time fans" is a visual novel-lite.

This was how Kanto worked except they removed HMs. I dont remember if Misty was required in LGPE to advance past Cerulean/Vermillion but in RGBY and FRLG you could do Brock Misty Koga Blaine in that order.

Kanto is built around the idea that at the very least you'll be fighting Koga, Sabrina, and Blaine interchangeably.
LGPE actually opened up Kanto even more than the older games did, since HMs aren't a thing.

Don't lie. The HMS were replaced, but almost all of them have the same requirements as RBY. It's inly more open in one or two specific (probably unintantional) situations.

If they made LGDP, it would be just as linear as DP, because it would have the same roadblocks. You just wouldn't have to teach the HMs to a party member.

Yeah but you still had to do rock tunnel, rocket game corner and pokemon tower to get to fuscia anyways, which would level your pokemon a decent amount. Koga would still be tough but its not like you'd have mid 20s mons for Koga unless you did minimum battles with a 6 member team

but then that just wraps everything back to Gold and Silver's problem where since you could defeat some gyms interchangeably they needed to be easy enough so you could do either of them first, meaning that the other ones would be piss easy afterwards.

None of them have the same requirements. They aren't tied to the badges.

LGPE was less linear than FRLG and RBY so no. Even if they were as linear as DP, that's in some ways still an improvement since Platinum went the opposite route. Good thing they'd base LGDP on Platinum anyway.

LGPE was only better than Gen 8 because it was remaking a better game, same reason why ORAS was better than XY. By themselves, the new remakes are shit and so will the DP remakes be shit.

I didn't say I don't want freedom, I said the freedom wasn't purposeful. I want freedom, I just want it done properly with the intent to played all those different ways. With LG specifically it didn't feel like it was meant to be there, this open world type deal. I never wanted SWSH or SM cause the original DP and RSE just worked but here we are.
