Won't argue there, they never should have started. But since they have in Gen VI and they also try to make their games distinct from each other on top, it was obvious they were going to keep adding different flashy battle gimmicks to keep drawing in young children, like they always aim to do first and foremost.
As always, it all boils down to how well you can handle playing a kid's series and many megatards fail that, serging "muh gimmick" when it never was *theirs* in the first place (else we got a serious underage problem here today).
