Remakes usually get announced on the middle of the year, not early. It is possible since this is the anniversary and could be made an exception to this pattern.

If that happened, gen 8 would be a 2 year gen compared to the previous gens which were 3 years long. It can be an exception since SM was rushed to be released as a celebration of the 20th anniversary, but, despite that, it was still released 3 years after XY
