>>46323121Empoleon isn’t trash but it could be much better. It has a really confusing movepool with some great attacks like Scald and Ice Beam but not much support to go along with it. Agility, Swords Dance, Defog and Roar are nice, but it’s lacking stuff like Calm Mind or Nasty Plot, something a Sp Atk-focused Pokémon like Empoleon would really like. Or maybe anything to boost either defense stat so it can be a tank. But it’s movepool and hidden ability seem to push it towards physical sweeping, which is really really confusing considering it’s Sp Atk is like 40 points higher than its Attack. The poor thing is trying to be so many things at once that it’s mediocre at all of them.
Maybe in the remakes they can fix it. Redistributing stats probably won’t happen, but they give Pokémon new moves all the time, so maybe they can fill out its movepool with something you could actually plan around. Or maybe they’ll give us a mega, if they’ve finally stopped being retarded.
