Why do people complain about the linearity of the latest Pokémon games and the fact that every time there is an NPC blocking the passage, when in the franchise it has always been like this from the beginning?

Because linearity itself isn't the issue, being senselessly stopped every time you take three steps forward is.
Kalos and Unova were entirely linear but they still had non-linear elements mixed in.

Railroading is a GOOD thing and I'll never understand the criticism of it. Wouldn't the game be a complete chore to play through if you constantly had to keep making the decision of where to go instead of being able to follow the map?
It's fucking stupid and makes the map pointless. There were SO many kids back in the day that couldn't even find their way out of the starting town in Sinnoh because there wasn't a map to show them where they should go. They CANT alienate us like that.
Many people are disabled and rely on the map markers and roadblocks to help them. I don't want to explore I want to play the game!!

It wouldn't matter how big it is if they didn't shove roadblocks in front of you constantly.
Alola itself is still an okay region, but it's executed so piss poorly that it drains the entirety of the "game"

The nonlinearity in Let's go was a total and utter flop that basically made Game Freak lose money. They're going to do it in the new style to be like SWSH because otherwise they can't sell Gigantamax plushies
If it's let's go style I will literally jump because I won't be able to take this.. I tried playing through the original DP and I couldn't I'm still traumatized because there wasn't any map to help me get out of Twinleaf town.
They NEED to do it in the SWSH style. There NEEDS to be those map markers...

Pokemon was MADE to be a railroading game. Sun and Moon (the first traditional games) started this. You can still customize your team in the games, the only game that doesn't let you do this is LGPE and Gens 1-6 but it doesn't matter because they're spinoffs and not the traditional style.
Pokemon wouldn't feel right without the map markers telling people where to go. The game would be boring and aimless without it and the roadblocks that tell me where to go.

Unova in the sequels actually has a fuckton of dungeons despite the linear story path. From castelia sewers alone you can get to a patch of grass with eevee spawns, a hidden alleyway with a few punks and a tm, and some room with a scientist who makes you items. It's all optional and rewards for taking the time to explore to the fullest

Exactly. The difference between Gens 5/6 and 7/8 despite both being linear is that players actually encouraged and rewarded for exploring.
Not only does Alola and Galar have beacons telling you where to go, they put roadblocks everywhere that ISN'T the direct path they want you to take. Kalos and Unova at least let the player explore some of the branches.

I went out of my way to talk to each npc or check each nook and cranny in galar; there was almost always was nothing of value to be given or found. The people exist to cheer you on and the story is structured as battle hop > go to town and fight gym leader, rinse and repeated. There are no optional towns and any diversions there seems to be Leon takes care of for you.
Game never gives you room to breath or things to consider and is lame as fuck. Streamer / content creator bait.
