It just needs a bit more special coverage tbf. Not having access to stuff like Earth Power, Power Gem, Discharge, etc. Stats are solid, but the poor movepool hurts it a lot

Earth Power is a must, Lame Freak not giving Typhlosion Earth Power is the second stupidest moveset decision they have ever made (with Zama no Body Press being number 1).
Discharge is a massive reach, even if volcanos make storms no other Volcanoomon gets electric coverage.
Power Gem is somewhat reasonable but its also a stretch because outside of Klingklang every Pokémon that gets it actually has a Gem. AncientPower makes more sense.

Boomburst is usually only given out to music themed Pokémon or birds. But Typhlosion should at the very least get Hyper Voice.

It's disgusting how shallow Lame Freak made Typhlosion's moveset. I think the only reason it even got Eruption was because an intern snuck it in because they felt bad for it.

The thunder punch was kind of defining/iconic for his move set in gen 2 though and should be reflected in some way in current gen even if it doesn't make total sense.

The only "universal coverage" equivalent for Fire types is SolarBeam. Until Gen VIII made Scorching Sands which would have been good for Typhlosion but Lame Freak removed Typholsion just so it wouldn't be able to get the Ground coverage it needs to be usable.

Though the fact that Typhlosion gets Wild Charge means it that should logically know at least 1 special electric move even one around 60BP would be helpful.
