Yeah honestly I think it's going to be a shit time unless they really change the distribution. They should make stuff like Swinub and Gligar available early game, and include some spots that can have Unova through Galar mons, possibly through Sinnoh Underground or maybe through Honey Trees or something else.

I know this is bait, but I also know that there's a decent chance Gamefreak is actually stupid enough to not going to keep the Expanded Platinum Dex, and if people actually think this is a legitimate excuse I am going to lose my mind for the next year.

Garchomp doesn't belong on this list. Nobody even knew what that was or how to obtain it until AFTER fighting Cynthia at the E4 and thinking "oh shit, how do I get one of those" and then learning about the obscure location where you can find one.

The other two are legit. Also everyone having bidoof as the ultimate HM slave.

I didn't ditch the turtle, but I definitely used shinx. Too bad it had evee syndrome and had a dogshit movepool, just like most quadruped pokemon. Also it really should've been electric/dark

The difference was that the early route pokemon in Sinnoh were actually good later in the game too. Staraptor was a beast despite being the gen's "generic bird pokemon" equivalent to pidgeot or swellow, and luxray was the equivalent to something like mightyena.

that and D/P having fairly poor pokemon variety

ORAS' regional dex was fine though. It had everything from the originals plus the gen 4 evos and pre-evos.
