yeah I dont get why everyone is so hyped. It looks neat I guess but I never wanted anything like this, I wouldn’t want to get it. Only plus for me is if this means gens go back to being 4 years long instead of 3 (since this game will supposedly release in 2022), then maybe gen 9 will be better

I've been with the franchise since Yellow. What worked back in the 90s/00s does not work now. Turn-based combat is slow and drags the game out unnecessarily, and sequestering the battles to a preset field kills immersion. Let go of these JRPG holdovers

I haven't played FGO so I can't speak for it. I'm thinking in terms of what would be successful and popular with normies. Pokemon is a great franchise but refuses to step outside the limits set 25 years ago save from a few side games. I know you want specific examples to attack, so I'll refrain from doing that. I'm not saying something a la SSB would work for Pokemon-- but a combat system with a cooldown mechanic as seen in lots of popular MMOs would be a nice change of pace. Maybe even steal the stamina mechanic from Temtem to re-capture the hard limit presented by PP. It would massively change how critical hits & accuracy work. This is just my opinion though, you're free to call me a retard but it won't change anything

Turn-Based battle only works if the presentation of each move is good, and the battle flows by quickly.
Unfortunately, neither of those has been accomplished as of Sword & Shield.
